“Jude Law immediately joins the upper ranks of the great screen Henry VIIIs with an incendiary, movie-defining performance...”
    ★★★★ Kevin Maher, Times

“Aïnouz, one of Brazil’s most interesting directors, supplies lashings of Vermeer in this English-language debut, and even if he’s hardly in court painter mode, the film’s default handsomeness still plays it quite safe.”
    ★★★★ Tim Robey, Daily Telegraph

“We all know how the story plays out and yet writers Jessica and Henrietta Ashworth allow themselves enough liberties to tear up the school textbook and give the 1540s a feminist freshness.”
    ★★★★ Raphael Abraham, Financial Times
